Rohan Shiradhonkar

PhD Student

I hail from the ‘wine-capital’ of India (Nashik). I completed my B.Sc. in Agricultural Biotechnology from Nashik and went on to pursue my M.Sc. in Biotechnology at University of Helsinki, Finland on an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. Having been exposed to a wide array of subjects there, I developed interest in Astrobiology and life beyond Earth.

I joined the Swingley Lab family as a Ph.D. student with a view to uncover the underlying mechanism of far-red photosynthesis and investigate it as potential biosignature of life on other planets.

I am a tech enthusiast and like to explore and learn about new technologies. Also, consider me an amateur roboticist attempting to build and program robots. Outside my lab time, I enjoy basketball and ice-skating along with video games, where I spend time learning to survive zombie apocalypses (in case the next pandemic needs me to…) :-P
